Bill Murray is Stuck in Afghanistan in Rock the Kasbah Trailer

Posted on June 12, 2015

In the first trailer for Rock the Kasbah Bill Murray stars as Richie Lanz, a nearly washed up tour manager whose client list is now down to one singer (Zoe Deschanel). He manages to get her a gig performing with the USO in Afghanistan, but when they get there she steals his wallet and disappears.

But opportunity shows up in the strangest places. He runs into a young woman who (Leem Lebany) who is determined to get to Kabul to audition for the Afghanistan version of American Idol, called Afghan Star. Finally, he has a client with real talent. But there are plenty of obstacles along the way. Lanz is completely out of his element, yet remains himself. In the trailer he serenades and confuses some locals with a lounge singer version of "Deep Purple." Sadly, the Clash's "Rock the Casbah" did not make an appearance in the trailer.

The supporting cast is excellent with Bruce Willis, Scott Caan, Danny McBride, Taylor Kinney and Kate Hudson coming along for the ride. The film was directed by Barry Levinson (Good Morning, Vietnam, Rain Man, Borgia) a from a script by Mitch Glazer (Scrooged, The Recruit, Great Expectations). The film looks hilarious. It hits theaters on October 23, 2015. Take a look:
