Birdman Wins Four Oscars, Including Best Picture and Best Director

Birdman had a very big night at the 87th Academy Awards. The film took home four Oscars including Best Picture. The film also won Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography.

Birdman is a dark comedy that follows the career of a washed-up actor (Michael Keaton) most famous for his role as the superhero Birdman. The actor is attempting to revive his career and find himself through a Broadway play. Keaton won Best Actor for his performance at the Critic's Choice and Golden Globe awards. He was nominated for an Oscar but lost out to Eddie Redmayne. Birdman also stars Emma Stone, Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton and Naomi Watts.

Mexican film director Alejandro González Iñárritu won the Oscar for Best Director for Birdman. He also part of the team of screenwriters that also includes Nicolás Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris and Armando Bo. They won the Best Screenplay award.

Sean Penn presented the Oscar for Best Picture. Producers John Lesher and James W. Skotchdopole accept the award with Iñárritu. Iñárritu also dedicated the film to his fellow Mexicans and said he hoped the country of Mexico could find a strong government. Keaton also took the stage and said the film had been a "tremendous experience." Take a look:
