Ridley Scott to Direct The Forever War Ridley Scott has signed on to direct the film version of Joe Haldeman's book, The Forever War.
After the disappointing box office performance of his film Body of Lies last weekend, the director Ridley Scott, below, has added an adaptation of Joe Haldeman's science-fiction novel The Forever War to his roster of projects, Variety reported. Mr. Scott first became interested in making a movie of the novel more than 25 years ago, after coming to prominence with the sci-fi films Alien and Blade Runner. Over the weekend Mr. Scott's Mideast spy thriller, Body of Lies, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe, grossed just $13.1 million at its opening, finishing in third place behind Beverly Hills Chihuahua and Quarantine. Mr. Scott’s next directorial effort is expected to be Nottingham, a retelling of the story of Robin Hood, starring Mr. Crowe as both Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham. We certainly hope he has better luck with The Forever War than he did with Body of Lies. To be beaten by Beverly Hills Chihuahua is just humiliating -- and does not bode well for the future of moviemaking. Posted on October 17, 2008 blog comments powered by Disqus |
