Twilight Selling Out First Showings

Tickets for the first showings up the upcoming vampire romance movie Twilight are selling out.
Twilight doesn’t open until two weeks from today (at midnight), but Fandango is reporting that nearly 100 show times for the November 21st release are already sold-out across the nation, from California to Florida. The Summit Entertainment vampire romance is looking like a low-cost blockbuster as it accounts for 63% of all ticket sales on Fandango, the nation's largest movie ticketing destination. Twilight sales are outpacing those of Disney's High School Musical 3 at the same point in that film's sales cycle (two weeks before its release date). The same phenomenon is happening at major online ticketseller MovieTickets.com. Despite being more than two weeks from its opening, Twilight accounted for 34% of ticket sales at MovieTickets.com on Monday and Tuesday of this week, putting it three percentage points ahead of MGM/Sony's Quantum of Solace (31%) which opens November 14.

MovieTickets.com says Twilight is boasting impressive "intent to see" numbers across the board: 77% of under-25 moviegoers aware of the movie intend to see it opening weekend, compared to 70% of 25-to-34 year-olds, 64% of 35-to-44 year-olds, and 70% of 45-to-59 year-olds.
Female fans are leading the way in early ticket sales and we think Robert Pattinson is a large part of the reason why.
