has landed the coveted role of Lisbeth Salander. Lisbeth Salander is the lead character in the upcoming film based on Stieg Larsson's thriller The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Stieg Larsson's novel is the first of a trilogy, which gives Mulligan a three picture deal.
Mulligan has won the approval of David Fincher, the director, and also the family of the late Stieg Larsson, the Swedish author who created Salander. The choice follows weeks of casting rumours, with producers sifting through nearly 5,000 potential candidates. In an interview, Noomi Rapace, who plays Lisbeth in the Hollywood film, said she thought Evan Rachel Wood would be great for the role.
