Chris Pratt Takes on Dinosaurs in First Jurassic World Trailer

Posted on November 25, 2014

Chris Pratt is having an amazing year. He was Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, he made the short list of People's Sexiest Man Alive. Now he's battling dinosaurs in the first trailer for Jurassic World.

It has been 22 years since the events from Jurassic Park. Bad memories have faded and the island of Isla Nublar is now an amazing luxury resort with a twist: it's a live dinosaur theme park that's like a cross between The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Disney World and Sea World -- only better, and with real, live dinosaurs.

The happy park visitors travel around the island is see through monorails and vehicles where they watch the dinosaurs in their natural element. In one scene, a crowd watches an aquatic show near the ocean. A giant shark is dangled over the water when suddenly a very hungry aquatic dinosaur leaps up to eat it. Yes, that's an homage to that horrifying scene in Steven Spielberg's first movie, Jaws. And boy, is it effective.

Bryce Dallas Howard plays Claire, a brilliant scientist who has the terrible idea of creating a new dinosaur by using the DNA of the most intelligent and vicious dinosaurs in the park. Chris Pratt plays Owen, who seems incredulous that she would do such a dangerous thing. As he and a colleague are inspecting the park's walls, they find evidence that it has gotten out of the enclosure. And that means very bad things for the hundreds of park visitors who probably smell to the dinosaur like freshly baked bread smells to humans: delicious.

The cast is really good. Jake Johnson (New Girl), Judy Greer, Vincent D'Onofrio, Katie McGrath (Merlin, Nick Robinson, Omar Sy and Irfan Khan co-star. B.D. Wong returns as Henry Wu -- we haven't seen him since the very first film. The film was directed Colin Trevorrow and will hit theaters on June 12, 2015. We can't wait to see it. Take a look:
