Here is the extended trailer for Christopher Nolan's Interstellar which premiered at Comic-Con. The film stars Matthew McConaughey, Ann Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck and Michael Caine.

The details of the plot have been kept under wraps but the film is based partially on the writings of physicist Kip Thorne. The film is set in the near future when Earth is dying. Food is scarce and water is very hard to find. McConaughey's character is a farmer who is also an engineer. To save his children and Earth he agrees to join the crew for an interstellar flight through a recently discovered wormhole in our galaxy.

The crew is looking for a planet where humanity can move, or a planet where they could grow food for Earth. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan (The Black Knight, Inception). "Interstellar" is partially based on the writings of Kip Thorne and directed by Christopher Nolan ("Inception"). Christopher's brother Jonathan Nolan co-wrote the script with him. At Comic-Con, Chris Nolan said he was inspired by the classic film 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The tone of this longer trailer is somber and emotionally moving. McConaughey's grief at leaving his two children behind to try to provide them with a future is heart-wrenching. A widower, his kids are everything to him. But if he doesn't traverse the void, there isn't going to be any Earth left.

There is also a determination of the human spirit that comes through in this trailer. Michael Caine recites a powerful version of Dylan Thomas' poem, "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night," quoting, "Do not go gentle into that good night/Rage, rage against the dying of the light." Take a look:
