Posted on September 28, 2013

Jon Hamm discusses his role in the British television series, A Young Doctor's Notebook which is based on a series of short stories by Russian playwright Mikhail Bulgakov. The show stars Hamm as the older version of a doctor who narrates his adventures while he was a young doctor (Daniel Radcliffe) in early 20th century Russia. The older doctor is addicted to opium. The show has been picked up for a second season, and will now be available to American viewers on the Ovation cable channel starting October 2nd.

Jon says the show is very dark and very gory and very funny. He says he always looks for projects that are smart with good writing. About his co-star Daniel Radcliffe, he says he wishes he was as telented, accomplished and witty as Daniel is at his young age. He says Daniel is his friend, is a great guy and has really, really good parents.

Jon says he was not busy at all for a lot of his career, so now he pretty much works all the time. He says he loves it and you don't turn down opportunities like this. Jon's voice is hoarse during the interview. He is going to have throat surgery for a node on his vocal chord, but he says he's fine.
