M. Night Shyamalan's The Visit Trailer is Very Creepy

Posted on April 26, 2015

M. Night Shyamalan is back and it looks like he's back on track with his new horror film aimed at kids and teens. The Visit has quite a creepy trailer.

A brother and sister are being raised by their single mom (Katherine Hahn). Ed Oxenbould (Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day) and Olivia DeJonge (The Sisterhood of the Night) star as the siblings who go to visit their grandparents at their house in Pennsylvania. Grandma's rules are simple: have a great time, eat as much as you want and -- most importantly -- never leave the safety of your room after 9:30 pm.

The kids are on Skype to their mom, complaining that grandma and grandpa are seriously weird. Oh, "they're just old," says their mom. But boy is she wrong. When the kids leave their rooms at night (which of course they do) they see Grandma scratching at the walls and she appears to have forgotten her nightgown. Grandpa is also quite odd. In one scene the nice grandmother asks the little girl to please get into the oven to clean it and at this point we're yelling "Kid, don't get into that oven!!" And don't get us started on the knife.

So what is the secret here? Are they demons? Monsters? Shapeshifters? The witch from Hansel and Gretel and her boyfriend? We have no idea. But if kids are allowed to watch this film, grandparent visits are going to decrease substantially. We're sure of it. Which leads us to wonder: how does M. Night Shyamalan feel about his grandparents? Take a look:
