Nicole Kidman Exits Woody Allen Film

Nicole Kidman in Golden CompassVariety reports that Nicole Kidman has had to leave an unnamed Woody Allen film because of a scheduling conflict. The film is left with no shortage of stars. The unnamed project already has Antonio Banderas, Anthony Hopkins, Josh Brolin, Naomi Watts and Freida Pinto has attached to it.
Pic, which co-stars Antonio Banderas, Anthony Hopkins, Josh Brolin, Naomi Watts and Freida Pinto, is set to start shooting in London in the summer.

A scheduling conflict arose due to Kidman producing (through her Rabbit Hole productions)and starring with Aaron Eckhart in the film "Rabbit Hole," being directed by John Cameron-Mitchell and filming on the East Coast this summer.

There is no word yet on who Kidman's replacement will be.
Variety says the scheduling conflict was Nicole Kidman's own Rabbit Hole movie produced by her company, Rabbit Hole productions. The film will be an adaptation of the Rabbit Hole stageplay and will co-star Aaaron Eckhart.

Aaron Eckhart and Nicole Kidman to Star in Rabbit Hole

Aaron Eckhart is in talks to join the cast of Rabbit Hole. Nicole Kidman is set to play the lead, as well as produce. The film is an adaptation of David Lindsay-Abaire's Broadway play by the same name.
John Cameron Mitchell ("Shortbus") is directing and Kidman's producing through her Fox-based Blossom Films banner. The deal for Eckhart comes two years after Kidman signed on.

Lindsay-Abaire's adapting his story of a happily married couple whose lives are disrupted after their 4-year-old son is killed in a traffic accident and the redemptive journey they must undertake to regain happiness. Eckhart's starring in "Rum Diary" alongside Johnny Depp, Richard Jenkins and Giovanni Ribisi.
Kidman and Eckhart...we like it.

Nicole Kidman and Judi Dench to Star in Nine

Nicole Kidman and Judi Dench are reportedly starring in Nine, the film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical.
The Oscar-winning pair are in talks to join Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard and Sophia Loren in Rob Marshall's adaptation of the Tony-winning Broadway musical. The 1982 show, itself an adaptation of Federico Fellini's autobiographical opus "8 1/2," revolves around a film director (Bardem) juggling the demands of several women in his life.

*****

Plenty of people are familiar with Kidman's singing and dancing chops from "Moulin Rouge," but far fewer are aware of Dench's extensive musical theater experience. She played Sally Bowles in the original London production of "Cabaret" in 1968, and won the 1995 Olivier Award for best actress in a musical in a revival of Stephen Sondheim's "A Little Night Music."
The film will begin shooting after Nicole gives birth this summer and has a bit of maternity leave. And as for Judi Dench -- we had no idea that she was the original Sally Bowles. What fun that would have been to see!
