Carrie Fisher Admits Affair on Star Wars Set

Photo of Carrie Fisher as Princess LeiaCarrie Fisher dropped a bombshell finally confessing that she had an affair with Harrison Ford during the filming of Star Wars.
Now, after decades of rumours, she finally spills the beans on her relationship with ever-hunky Harrison, 63, who played Han Solo. She tells Justin Lee Collins in new C4 show Bring Back . . . Star Wars: "I went on the film saying 'I'm going to have an affair', like it was a kiwi, an exotic fruit -- because I'd never had one!" She adds: "I had a crush on Harrison for sure. Harrison is great fun when he's had a few drinks."

Shaking her head and saying: "I'm going to get in so much trouble," she adds: "Once I left the room and came back and he was in the closet not wearing a lot of clothes." Asked about reports of intergalactic battles between Harrison and co-star Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker, Carrie says: "Harrison wouldn't have a competition with Mark -- it's an uneven competition. He'd win, it would be mean to have a competition!"

Carrie, now a successful screenwriter, confesses there was "some jealousy" from Mark over Harrison's huge success. She adds: "Harrison had this enormous career by the second or third film, that was tough for Mark. He was like, "This wasn't supposed to happen - it's the adventures of Luke Skywalker'."

*****

Memorably, Carrie was made to wear a skimpy gold bikini as she was held hostage by Jabba The Hutt in Return Of The Jedi in 1983. And she laughs: "George has it -- he wears it all the time. That bikini didn't move, so you could see all the way to Florida!"
Ok, first off no one wants to see George Lucas in the Princess Leia slave outfit, that's for sure. Second, the idea of Harrison Ford waiting naked in the closet for Princess Leia to get back to her dressing room is just mind-boggling. What a prankster that Harrison is!

Star Wars Universe Returns to Film, TV

Star Wars The Clone Wars

The picture above shows Anakin Skywalker and his new padawan learner Ahoska from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Star Wars: The Clone Wars will premiere as a feature film in August. This will be followed by the debut of the television series on the Cartoon Network in the fall. You can see a sneak peak of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars here (via Fantasy SF Blog).

"I felt there were a lot more Star Wars stories left to tell," said George Lucas. "I was eager to start telling some of them through animation and, at the same time, push the art of animation forward."

Lucasfilm says Star Wars: The Clone Wars showcases an entirely new look and feel to the Star Wars universe. Old favorites like Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padme Amidala will appear alongside new heroes like Anakin's padawan learner, Ahsoka. Sinister villains include Palpatine, Count Dooku and General Grievous.

"Nothing like this has ever been produced for television," said Stuart Snyder, President/COO Turner Animation,Young Adults & Kids Media. "For 30 years, Star Wars has shown that it appeals to a huge breadth of fans. The Clone Wars on Cartoon Network will be appointment television for everyone in the family. We're thrilled to be working with Lucasfilm again and very excited to be playing a role in bringing this remarkable adventure to viewers."

Obi-Wan's Cloak Sells for Over $100,000

The cloak worn by Alec Guiness as Obi Wan Kenobi in Star Wars has sold at a London auction for $104,200.
The cloak was part of what was considered to be Britain's largest auction of film and television costumes, Sky News said. An outfit worn by Sean Connery provided the day's biggest surprise, auctioneers at Bonhams said.

The two-piece tweed suit and hat he wore as Harrison Ford's dad in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" was expected to fetch no more than $2,900. It sold for just under $51,000. Another Connery item -- a dinner jacket he wore as James Bond in the 1965 movie "Thunderball" -- sold for $64,000.
Obi Wan's cloak is a pretty cool thing to own. Still...$104,200? That's a lot of money for a cloak, even one worn by a famous Jedi Knight.

George Lucas Brings Stormtroopers to Rose Parade

StormtrooperSix-feet tall roses won't be the only unusual thing about this year's Rose Parade. Variety reports that 200 Stormtroopers and a float inspired by the planet Naboo will also be featured as part of a Lucasfilm's "Star Wars Spectacular." Variety says the people dressing up as the Stormtroopers are from the 501st Legion, a group of hardcore Star Wars fans.
Centerpiece of the "Star Wars" floats -- the "Star Wars Spectacular," as Lucasfilm dubs it -- will be 200 members of the 501st Legion, a 3,500-strong group of hardcore fans who appear publicly in full "Star Wars" costume.

The 501st makes public appearances in accurate replica costumes, participating mostly at fund raisers and charity events, always pro bono. Although unaffiliated with Lucasfilm, the company sometimes uses the 501st at its official events.

"When we were releasing 'Episode III' around the world, we'd call up the local garrison and ask them to provide some atmosphere and color around the premiere," said Tom Warner, Lucasfilm's senior director of marketing. "George was so impressed with these guys -- with their dedication and professionalism -- he wanted to do something to get recognition for them."

When Lucas had the idea for a "Star Wars" float in the Rose Parade, an open audition call went out to 501st members. Lucasfilm received 700 videos from costumed fans who filmed themselves marching. These were narrowed down to 200 participants, and Lucasfilm is flying those members in from across the nation and around the world, with 22 countries and 36 states represented.
Variety says there will also be a Forest Moon of Endor float and Ewoks. George Lucas is this year's Rose Parade Grand Marshal -- which is why the Star Wars floats are part of the parade. You can see some stormtroopers in training here.

Savvy Lucasfilm Supports Star Wars Video Spoofs

Colbert Star Wars VideoFans of Star Wars spoofs and parodies on YouTube were happy when several Star Wars spoofs returned to YouTube after they had been removed. Lucasfilm said they did not request the videos to be removed. Lucasfilm also posted the following message on its blog.
Lucasfilm has been informed that YouTube recently removed from its site several fan-made Star Wars spoofs and parodies. We would like the fan film community to know that this was not done at our request.

Apparently the action was taken by YouTube as a result of a misunderstanding of a request to remove an item containing material taken from starwars.com without our permission. We have asked YouTube to restore any works that they inadvertently removed.
You can see the Star Wars spoofs here. Stephen Colbert has also joined in the Star Wars fun with some jedi action of his own. He created a short video of himself fighting with a light saber in front of a green screen and challenged video makers to turn it into cool Jedi videos. Some of the submissions have been very good so far. You can see them on Colbert Nation website.
