Teaser Trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road Starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron

The first teaser trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road dropped at Comic-Con and it's pretty intense. The film trilogy that made a young Mel Gibson a household name is being rebooted by its creator, George Miller.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world where civilization has been destroyed and everyone goes to war for scarce water resources, the film illustrates what happens to humanity when it is stripped down to its most basic instinct: survival. Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron (complete with robot arm), Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Zoe Kravitz and Nicholas Holt star in the film, which arrives in theaters on May 15, 2015.

This teaser shows insane vehicle chases in the desert, involving modified cars, jeeps, motorcycles and trucks. In one scene the villains are using long poles attached to moving cars to grab girls from a truck. Part of the film was shot in the Namib Desert in Africa. The weather in the post-apocalyptic world looks primarily hot, dry and sunny, although the rebels do encounter a hellish looking sandstorm with lightning. Take a look:
