The Rock Gets Shaken Up in First San Andreas Teaser Trailer

Posted on December 10, 2014

Dwayne Johnson battles an epic earthquake in the new trailer for the earthquake disaster film San Andreas. Johnson plays Ray, a search and rescue helicopter pilot in Los Angeles.

The San Andreas fault finally gives way and downtown Los Angeles is pretty much totally destroyed in some amazing footage. But worse is yet to come. Ray and his ex-wife Emma (Carla Gugino) head to San Francisco to save their daughter Blake (Alexandra Daddario) from a predicted second trembler.

Meanwhile an earthquake specialist (Paul Giamatti) warns that a terrible quake is coming and that it will be so bad it will be felt on the East Coast of the U.S. In other words, San Francisco is going into the ocean and even New York City may be wiped out by the massive disaster. Oh, and the Hoover Dam is toast.

The trailer music is a slowed down, creepy version of "California Dreamin'" by the Mamas and the Papas. The cast also includes Ioan Gruffudd, Archie Panjabi, Will Yun Lee, and international pop goddess Kylie Mingoue. Strangely enough, The film was not directed by disaster king Roland Emmerich. It was directed by Brad Peyton (Journey 2: The Mysterious Island). This will be Peyton's first disaster film, although he certainly had a handle on the action and the CGI in the kids' film, Journey 2 which also starred Johnson. The film hits theaters next summer.
