Benedict Cumberbatch Bends Reality in Comic-Con Doctor Strange Trailer

The cast of Marvel's Doctor Strange did a panel at Comic-Con and introduced a new trailer for the upcoming film. Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Dr. Stephen Strange, a brilliant surgeon that suffers a terrible injury to his hands in a car accident. Scouring the world for a way to be whole again, he encounters The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) who sets him on a new path.

She teaches him about a group of sorcerers who can bend reality itself. Skeptical at first, Strange discovers he has a real gift for his new occupation. This trailer focuses on Strange's learning the craft. The Ancient One tells him, "You think you know how the world works. What if I told you that the reality you know is one of many?" She explains, "Through the mystic arts, we harness energy and shape reality. We travel great distances in an instant."

The secret to becoming a great sorcerer? It's study and practice. The trailer gives us some amazing shots of Strange manipulating reality and working on the astral plane. We also meet Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) who warns the surgeon, "Be careful which path you travel down, Strange. Stronger men than you have lost their way."

The film also stars Benedict Wong as Wong, a sort of drill sergeant of the mystical arts who teaches Strange. In the comics, Wong is a servant but at Comic-Con, Benedict Wong said he would not play that role. He instead is a master of the mystical arts. Rachel McAdams is Strange's ex and current surgical colleague. It looks fantastic. Take a look:
