Common and John Legend Win Oscar for Best Original Song

Common and John Legend won the Oscar for Best Original Song at the 87th Academy Awards. They won the Oscar for their song "Glory," which they wrote for the movie, Selma.

To win the Oscar, "Glory" beat out "Everything Is Awesome," from The Lego Movie, by Shawn Patterson; "Grateful," from Beyond the Lights, by Diane Warren; "I'm Not Gonna Miss You," from Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me, by Glen Campbell and Julian Raymond and "Lost Stars," from Begin Again, by Gregg Alexander and Danielle Brisebois.

Command and John Legend also won Best Original Song at the 2015 Golden Globes.

Common talked about visiting Selma and performing Glory on the same bridge that Dr. Martin Luther King marched on. Common says the spirit of the bridge connects all type of people protesting freedom around the world. Take a look:
