Clark Gregg in Agents of SHIELD

ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. got off to a terrific start with its September 24th premiere. It was viewed by 12.12 million people and was the biggest network drama debut in four years. Actor Clark Gregg plays Agent Phil Coulson. He was not killed by Loki in the events that happened in the Avengers film, although he was dead for eight seconds. The pilot can be viewed on ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. website.

Gregg talked with Good Morning America about the highly entertaining new TV series. He pulled up in the same red car his character drives in the show. This interview took place just before the pilot premiered on ABC, which was amazing.

Gregg says the series is set in the world after the events of Avengers. People are aware now of aliens and superheroes and some people now covet powers of their own. Gregg says he thinks his character is like the stage manager who has to help keep all the superheroes in line. He says, "There is something quietly heroic about him." Take a look:
