Darth Vader Returns in Trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Posted on August 12, 2016

The full trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was released today and it is fantastic. Director Gareth Edwards promised a grittier Star Wars movie and he really delivers. This is a story of the Rebels and their heroics which helped win the war against the Empire. Felicity Jones stars as Jyn Erso, the leader of a group sent on a mission to find out about the Empire's new weapon.

Jyn Erso is more Han Solo than Rey: she's got some attitude. She puts her dislike of authority aside to go on the mission, though. The cast is outstanding. Hong Kong action star and martial artist Donnie Yen jumps off the screen as the bling Jedi Chirrut Îmwe, who thinks nothing of taking on a large group of armed Storm Troopers on his own. Alan Tudyk voices K-2SO a tall droid that has been reprogrammed to help the Rebels. He dryly informs Jyn that his captain has said she is a friend, so he will refrain from killing her. Tudyk is hilarious and we know his K-2SO will be a stand out. He's not much of an optimist, telling the crew that there was a "there is a 96.7% chance of failure" for their mission. Thanks, K-2SO.

The cast also includes Jimmy SMits as Bail Organa, Genevieve O'Reilly as Mon Mothma, Valene Kane as Lyra Orso, Ben Mendelsohn as Director Orson Krennic, Mads Mikkelsen as Galen Erso, Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera, Diego Luna as the dashing Captain Cassian Andor and James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader.

Yes, that's Darth Vader we get a glimpse of at the end of the trailer. We can't wait to see this. Take a look:
