Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart Star in London Has Fallen Trailer

Posted on July 6, 2015

Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart star in the first teaser trailer for London Has Fallen, which is the sequel to 2013's Olympus Has Fallen. In the first film Gerard Butler starred as Mike Banning who helped save the president of the United States (Aaron Eckhart) when North Korean terrorists took over the White House.

The sequel is set in London where the world's dignitaries have gathered for the funeral of the British Prime Minister. Security at the event is tight, but not tight enough. A conspiracy is afoot to commit the worlds' largest terror attack which will destroy London's monuments and kill all of the world's leaders. Mike Banning is now the head of the Secret Service. He is attending the event with the U.S. president (Aaron Eckhart). With the help of an MI-6 agent (Charlotte Riley), they set out to stop the destruction.

Morgan Freeman returns as Speaker of the House Trumbull. The cast also includes Radha Mitchell, Melissa Leo, Angela Bassett, Jackie Earle Haley, and Robert Forster. Antoine Fuqua was originally set to direct the sequel, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. The job eventually went to Babak Najafi.

Talk about your bad luck. What are the odds that the American president will be stuck in the middle of yet another giant terrorist attack? President Benjamin Asher is like the action hero president. We do hope he's been working out since the last attack. The trailer features lots of destruction and explosions and Gerard Butler back in action. The first film was entertaining, although the idea of the North Koreans executing such a plan was ridiculous. But they are really the go to villains these days. It's not clear who the terrorists are in this next outing.

The film is set for release on January 22, 2016. Take a look:
