The first trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse has dropped it looks amazing. This is a sequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past and most of that cast returns. The first mutant awakes and has devastating plans for civilization. He is called Apocalypse and he has been asleep for thousands of years after ruling the Earth under various names.

Oscar Isaac plays Apocalypse who was worshiped as the God Ra during ancient Egyptian times. Over time he assimilated the powers of many mutants, eventually becoming invincible and immortal. He awakens during the 80s, and he is not happy with what he finds. He recruits powerful mutants to help him rebuild the world. Unfortunately one of his recruits is Magneto (Michel Fassbender).

Opposing Apocalypse is Professor Xavier (James McAvoy) and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence). They form a team of mutants to help stop the coming destruction of humanity, including Quicksilver (Evan Peters), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Beast (Nicholoas Hoult), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) and Storm (Alexandra Shipp).

Olivia Munn plays Betsy Braddock/Psylocke and Rose Byrne plays CIA agent Moira MacTaggert. Kodi Smit-McPhee is Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler. Bryan Singer directed the film, which he co-wrote with Simon Kinberg. There is no sign of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the trailer, but it's possible he will appear. In any event, he is signed up for a Wolverine sequel that will hit theaters in 2017.
