Project Runway Meets the Drag Queens

Posted on August 21, 2008

Last night's Project Runway may have been the best challenge the show has ever done. Chris March returned in a Wagnerian opera costume to announce that the designers would be creating costumes for drag queens. It was just divalicious. Ok, Blayne needs to have his mouth taped shut, but "-licious" is still horrifyingly stuck in our heads.

Here are our three favorite outfits. On the far left was Joe's pink sequined sailor outfit for Valla Jean Merman, which looked even better on TV. It was just flawless and how hilarious was it that the straight guy won the drag queen contest?

In the middle is Kenley's gown, which is the prettiest of the bunch by far. It wasn't shocking or terribly daring, but it worked. And on the right is Terri's amazing reinterpretation of Kabuki.

Terri looked daggers at Dave after he won; clearly she thought she should have taken home the prize. But she needs to get over it, because the little sailor outfit with the belt that "hides the candy" as RuPaul explained to us, was the clear winner. How can next week's challenge ever live up to this one?/p>
