Sully Wins Weekend Box Office for Second Consecutive Weekend

Sully starring Tom Hanks was the top film in theaters again this weekend. It won for the second straight week as the three opening films all underperformed. Sully fell just 37.2% from its opening weekend and made $22 million. It has made $70 million so far.

This weekend's three big openers were Blair Witch, Bridget Jones's Baby and Snowden. None of them made over $10 million and all had a low per theater average of around $3,000 per theater.

Blair Witch opened in second and made $9.6 million. Blair Witch has a very low D+ CinemaScore. Bridge Jone's Baby opened in third and made $8.2 million. It has a B+ CinemaScore. Snowden starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Edward Snowden made $8 million. It has an A CinemaScore.

Snowden was followed by Don't Breathe, When the Bough Breaks, Suicide Squad and The Wild Life. You can find the box office chart for the weekend here. The opening films this coming weekend include The Magnificent Seven, Storks, Queen of Katwe and The Dressmaker.
