Trailer for Left Behind Starring Nicolas Cage

Posted on August 5, 2014

The Rapture novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins were bestsellers and were made into three movies. Now the films are being rebooted with Nicolas Cage in the lead role.

Here is the first trailer for Left Behind, which hits theaters on October 3, 2014. Cage plays airline pilot Ray Steele who is flying in the cabin when the Rapture occurs. He runs to the cockpit to find that the pilots have disappeared. He takes control of the plane, but now has to navigate many other unmanned planes and other obstacles while the passengers get hysterical.

All over the world, people have simply disappeared. Steele's wife and son were taken but his daughter Chloe (Cassi Thompson) is left behind. Chaos abounds as cars crash, planes fall out of the sky and other catastrophes occur. Steele and his daughter try to find out what happened to their family members -- and everyone else's.

There were sixteen books in the series, but interest in the story is still high. HBO is currently airing the show Left Behind which features life in a post-world Rapture-like event. But in the HBO show, the people that were taken were not all good people and it's not clear at all that God had anything to do with it. Director Vic Armstrong has not said if the script follows the books or how the religious elements will play out. The teaser doesn't give many clues either. Take a look:
