Posted on August 5, 2016
Singer Katy Perry has released the music video for "Rise." "Rise" is the NBC Olympics theme song for its coverage of the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. The opening ceremony is tonight.Katy can be seen struggling with a pink parachute in the compelling music video. She is first seen training with the parachute in warehouse. Later we see her battle to control the parachute outdoors in Utah's Snow Canyon. She nearly dies several times. She can be seen hanging perilously from a cliff and almost drowning underwater with the chute blocking her way to air. Finally, she manages to control the parachute and she soars triumphantly over the canyon.
Katy says in a tweet, "Through the blood, sweat (lots of it), and tears, we keep rising."
Katy also says in a statement, "This is a song that's been brewing inside me for years, that has finally come to the surface. I was inspired to finish it now, rather than save it for my next album, because now more than ever, there is a need for our world to unite. I know that together we can rise above the fear - in our country, and around the world."
The music video was directed by Paul Gore. Take a look:
