Scarlett Johansson Talks Playing Black Widow in The Avengers

Scarlett Johansson walked the red carpet with her many co-stars for the premiere of the highly anticipated film The Avengers. Scarlett reprises her role from Iron Man as Natasha Romanoff/ Black Widow.

The Hollywood Reporter asked Scarlett about how she approached playing the character. She said her character on film is not different from the comic book character. Scarlett said, "She's really the first female superhero. There's a huge rich background for me to kind of pick from and play with and layer." Scarlett explained, "Joss [Whedon] and I were very conscious, very aware that she had this huge following. And why is that? Because she's this very multi-dimensional, enigmatic character to play." She also talks about getting the crap beat out of her every day doing stunts. Take a look:
