The Hitman's Bodyguard Tops Box Office for Third Consecutive Weekend

The Hitman's Bodyguard has now topped the box office for the third consecutive weekend. It won the weekend by making just $10.3 million in theaters - about the same amount it made last weekend. The film starring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson fell by just 0.1%. The Hitman's Bodyguard was followed by Annabelle: Creation. Both films have held the #1 and #2 positions for three straight weekends.

Things have been good for The Hitman's Bodyguard and Annabelle: Creation but the box office has been very weak overall. Deadline is reporting that this weekend is the lowest since 1998. A big reason for the weak box office is that the major studios did not have any new wide releases out.

Annabelle: Creation was followed by Wind River, Leap!, Logan Lucky, Dunkirk and Spider-Man: Homecoming. You can find the box office chart for the weekend here.

There will be some new films arriving next weekend which should end The Hitman's Bodyguard's surprising streak of holding the top slot. The films include the It horror movie based on Stephen King's novel. Other films include Home Again, The Good Catholic, Poster Boys and 9/11.
