Teen Superheroes Emerge in First Trailer for Marvel's Cloak and Dagger
Posted on April 27, 2017
Marvel continues the expansion of its universe with the release of the first trailer for a new show called Marvel's Cloak & Dagger. The show is based on the obscure comic book series and will air on Freeform. The show is aimed at a younger audience as the protagonists are teens with special powers. It is set in New Orleans.
Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Johnson) are teens who come from very different backgrounds. But they do have something in common: superpowers. Tandy (also known as Dagger) can shoot light daggers. Tyrone, also known as Cloak) can envelop others in darkness. The two superheroes become romantically involved, which adds an entirely set of problems to their lives.
The show will air on Freeform (formerly called ABC Family) and is scheduled to debut in 2018. From the trailer, it looks kind of dark, but the leads seem compelling. We really can't get much of a feel for the characters or plotline yet, but we'll certainly tune in to see what it's all about. So as far as trailers go: mission accomplished. Take a look:
