Harrison Ford Injured on Set of Star Wars: Episode VII
Posted on June 12, 2014
Well, this is not good news. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Harrison Ford was injured on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. Ford injured his ankle and was airlifted to a hospital. A source on the set told The Hollywood Reporter that Ford, who is reprising his iconic role as Han Solo, was injured by the door of the Millenium Falcon, which apparently will be making a return.
Disney issued a statement saying, "Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates."
The British tabloid, The Mirror, says that Ford was crushed in a door and had to be airlifted to the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford. The Mirror says the EMTs think he has a fractured ankle but no major chest injuries. But he will get x-rays at the trauma unit to make sure he is okay. A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "We were called to Pinewood studios at 5.05 pm after reports of a 71-year-old man being injured by a garage door." The Health and Safety Executive gave this quote: "We have been made aware of an incident at Pinewood studios and are making initial enquiries." That means the set will be inspected for safety.
We hope his injuries are minor and that he recovers soon.
