New Season of American Horror Story Gets Freaky

Posted on September 8, 2014

The new season of American Horror Story is nearly upon us and it's getting a little freaky. Okay, a lot freaky. In this new, extended trailer we get a look at the freaks and the cast for this upcoming season.

The new season is set in a freak show in Jupiter, Florida, in 1952. Jessica Lange plays the owner of the show, German born Elsa Mars. Kathy Bates is the bearded lady. Michael Chiklis is the strong man. Chiklis' and Bates' characters have a son, played by Evan Peters who appears to have some kind of hand issue. Sarah Paulson plays conjoined twins Bette and Dot who have two heads.

Emma Roberts' character shows no obvious freakiness, but no doubt there's something odd about her. Denis O'Hare, Gabourey Sidibe, John Carroll Lynch, Patti LaBelle, Finn Wittrock and Matt Bomer co-star. The show has been a big hit for F/X, Ryan Murphy and for its actresses. Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates each won 2014 Emmys for their roles on American Horror Story: Coven. Jessica won for playing Fiona Goode and Kathy won for her portrayal of Madame Delphine LaLaurie.

Sadly, we didn't spot Matt Bomer or Patti LaBelle in the trailer; we can't wait to see what roles they have in this very creepy looking season. Surely Ryan Murphy wouldn't hide Matt's face under clown makeup...or would he?

This season looks especially creepy: Emma Roberts told E! that the script is really scary and that she's been having nightmares. American Horror Story: Freak Show debuts on October 8, 2014, at 10 pm ET/9 pm CT on FX. Take a look:
