Kate Beckinsale Opens the Wrong Door in The Disappointments Room Trailer

Posted on August 24, 2016

Kate Beckinsale stars in the first trailer for the horror film The Disappointments Room. Kate plays Dana, a woman who moves into a rural home with her husband and young son. While fixing up the house she finds a room that is not on the blueprints for the house. This is not a good sign. She can't get the door open and finally comes upon a box full of old keys. She tries each of the keys to see if it will open the mysterious room and finally, one of them does. This is not a good thing.

A disappointment room is a 19th century term for a room where families would hide children with physical or mental disabilities. Such disabilities were considered an embarrassment to the family, so the unfortunate child was simply isolated from a non-accepting society.

The trailer gives us no hint as to what's behind door number one, but the title of the film gives us a clue. The script was written by Prison Break and The Flash star Wentworth Miller. This is Miller's second produced screenplay after Stoker. The film was directed by D.J. Caruso (Disturbia).

The film also stars Gerald McRaney, Lucas Till, Michaela Conlin, Michael Landes, Mel Raido and Duncan Joiner. It hits theaters September 9th and looks quite entertaining. Take a look:
