Billy Ray Cyrus and Trace Cyrus to Search for Aliens for Syfy Channel
Posted on September 7, 2010
Variety reports that Billy Ray Cyrus and his son Trace Cyrus will star in a new television series on Syfy. At first we thought Billy Ray (who starred in the series Doc and Hannah Montana) was starring in a new drama about a guy searching for alien life. That sounded out there, but kind of interesting. But as we read further, we realized that we were totally wrong. This is actually a documentary-style show in which Billy Ray and his majorly tattooed son Trace Cyrus drive around the U.S. investigating UFO sightings and conspiracy theories.
Really? Are they serious? We know that Ghost Hunters does really well in the ratings for Syfy, but the guys on that show are paranormal investigators. That's what they do. Does Billy Ray has some kind of secret training that he's never mentioned in interviews? Has he always harbored an interest in UFOs? Will the Syfy producers stick him and Trace in a car with some snacks and a cameraman and head them towards Roswell, or will there be some kind of investigative team to help them? These are the questions that will keep us up at night until the show's premiere. Okay, no they won't. We still think they should have made it fiction and let Doc search for aliens.
UFO: Unbelievably Freakin' Obvious does not yet have a release date. Prediction: the episode where Miley Cyrus guest stars will generate the highest ratings in Syfy history.
