Brave Tops Weekend Box Office

Brave topped the box office this weekend. It made $66 million. This was the 13th straight #1 opening for Pixar. Brave was followed by Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, which made $20.2 million during its third weekend in theaters. Madagascar 3 has already made over $157 million in the U.S. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter opened in third and made $16.5 million, which was slightly below expectations for the alternate history vampire thriller.

Prometheus finished fourth and made $10 million during its third weekend in theaters, bringing its box office total to $108 million. Prometheus was followed by Rock of Ages, Snow White and the Huntsman and That's My Boy. The Avengers made another $7 million during its eight weekend in theaters to bring it total past $598 million - just $2 million away from the $600 million mark.
