Cate Blanchett to Play Villain Hela in Thor: Ragnarok

Marvel has announced that Cate Blanchett has signed on to play the villain Hela in the upcoming film, Thor: Ragnarok. This will be third film in the Thor series starring Chris Hemsworth as Thor. The last film Thor: The Dark World made over $640 million world wide.

Marvel also released the concept art for Ragnarok. Three other new cast members were also announced. They include Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Karl Urban as Skurge. The film will also star Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdall and Sir Anthony Hopkins as Odin.

Producer Kevin Feige says in the announcement, "The continuation of the epic Thor franchise will be powerful and unique, and with the additions of Cate, Jeff, Tessa, Karl, and Mark to the cast we have the makings of his most dangerous and heroic adventure yet. The sheer, raw talent each of these actors brings to the screen can’t be quantified. Having any one of them join the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be an honor, and having all of them is incredible."

The film is being directed by Taika Waititi. It is set for a November 3, 2017 release.
