Fred Armisen and Friends Sing Goodbye to Saturday Night Live
Posted on May 19, 2013
Fred Armisen and Bill Hader are leaving Saturday Night Live, which is a major loss for the show. The rumor is that Jason Sudeikis is also leaving, but he hasn't announced anything. In this skit, they sing goodbye to the show in character.
Fred reprises his British rocker character Ian Rubbish. Hader, Sudeikis and Taran Killam make up the rest of the band which is called The Bizarros. They play a song called "Lovely Day." They get joined onstage by some pretty amazing musicians: Carrie Brownstein of both Sleater-Kinney and Portlandia, Steve Jones of The Sex Pistols, Aimee Mann, Michael Penn, J. Mascis of Dinosaur Jr., and Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth. Fred seemed genuinely sad to be leaving. The words "I Heart LM" on Fred's guitar strap is him sending love to producer Lorne Michaels.
