Posted on January 5, 2014

Frozen has topped the weekend box office during its 7th weekend in theaters. The animated Disney film is just a couple million shy of the $300 million mark. It made $20.7 million over the weekend. Frozen not only managed to win the box office during its seventh weekend in theaters, but did it when theaters are packed with many great films.

Frozen also fended off Paranormal Activity: The Marked One, which made $18.2 million. The low budget horror film is already profitable, but the box office score was less than that of past Paranormal horror flicks.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug finished third during its fourth weekend in theaters. It added $16.3 million to bring its total gross to $229 million. The Hobbit 2 was followed by The Wolf of Wall Street, American Hustle, Anchorman 2, Saving Mr. Banks and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire added another $7.4 million during its seventh weekend in theaters. This pushed it over the $400 million. It has now made a very impressive $407.5 million in the U.S. You can see the complete box office report for the weekend here.
