Hobbit Eagle Statue Falls During New Zealand Earthquake

A huge Hobbit eagle statue at the Wellington Airport fell from the ceiling during a 6.3 magnitude earthquake in New Zealand. The bird statue was in the airport to promote the Hobbit films.
The Independent reports that the statue hit a teenager as it fell, but fortunately she was not injured. The Dominion Post reports that the statue was installed and built by Weta Workshop. The bird was held in place by eight cables. Take a look:
