Resident Evil Retribution Wins Weekend Box Office

Posted on September 16, 2012

Resident Evil: Retribution, starring Milla Jovovich, won the weekend box office with a take of $21.1 million. This successful fifth entry in the series proves people are still very interested in watching Milla slay zombies and monsters. Resident Evil made enough to stay ahead of the return of Finding Nemo to the box office in 3D form. The 3D Nemo made $17 million.

Resident Evil and Finding Nemo 3D were the only films to break the $10 million mark during the weekend. The Possession horror film finished third during its third weekend in theaters and made $5.8 million. It was followed by Lawless, ParaNorman and The Expendables 2. The Master, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, made $730,000 over the weekend, which was very impressive considering it aired in just five theaters. This was a per theater record of nearly $146,000.
