Syfy Cancels Eureka. Series Will End With Fifth Season
Posted on August 8, 2011
This is depressing news. Deadline is reporting that Syfy has decided to cancel Eureka. There was earlier news that Syfy would order a final 6-episode season, but that is not going to happen. Season 5 will be the last season. There will be 13 episodes. Syfy is currently airing Season 4, which concludes on September 19, 2011.
Syfy said in a statement, "After painstaking consideration, we have had to make the difficult business decision to not order a season six of Eureka. But Eureka is not over yet. There is a new holiday episode this December and 12 stellar episodes set to debut next year, marking its fifth season and six memorable years on Syfy."
Update 8-9-11: On Twitter, Colin Ferguson (Sheriff Jack Carter) posted this tweet, "Thanks for the outpouring of affection everyone. YOU made the show. YOU made it special. YOU made it worth being part of. Thank you so much."
We think this great series could have gone on much longer. It was a perfect fit for the Syfy network.
