The Moon and The Sun has completed filming at Versailles in France. Filming will now move to phase two in Melbourne, Australia. Barry Berman adapting the screenplay from the Nebula award winning novel by Vonda McIntyre. It tells the tale of Louis XIV's pursuit of immortality. The King captures a mermaid in order to steal her life force. Conflict arises when the monarch's illegitimate daughter forms a bond with the mermaid and the handsome sailor who was her captor.

Pierce Brosnan stars as Louis XIV and Chinese actress Fan Bingbing is the mermaid. Other stars include William Hurt, Benjamin Walker, Kaya Scodelario, Ben Lloyd-Hughes and Pablo Schreiber. It sounds like it could be a very interesting film with this cast and the Versailles location. The film also has Oscar-winning costume designer Lizzy Gardiner creating costumes as well as production designer Michelle McGahey and Oscar-nominated editor John Gilbert.

The film is being produced by Bill Mechanic, James Pang, Wei Han and Paul Currie. Sean McNamara is the director. The film will be distributed by Focus Features in the U.S. It is set for a 2015 release.
