The Wolverine Tops Weekend Box Office

Posted on July 28, 2013

The Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman, topped the box office this weekend with a $55 million take. The domestic box office was less than expected, but Deadline reports that overseas numbers were very good. It has already made over $141 million worldwide.

The Wolverine was followed by the surprise hit, The Conjuring, which made another $22 million during its second weekend in theaters. Despicable Me 2 finished third and added $16 million to push its box office over the $300 million mark. Only Iron Man 3 and Despicable Me 2 have eclipsed the $300 million mark so far this year.

Despicable Me 2 was followed by Turbo, Grown Ups 2, Red 2, Pacific Rim and The Heat. Another opening film this weekend, The To-Do List, starring Aubrey Plaza, did not do that great. It made $1.5 million in 591 theaters at just $2,597 per theater. You can see the complete box office report here.
