Zac Efron is a DJ in We Are Your Friends Trailer

Zac Efron is an aspiring DJ named Cole in the trailer for We Are Your Friends which marks the directing debut of Max Joseph (MTV's Catfish). Cole and his friends are looking for a way to make it big in life. They want out of the Valley and into the luxury life.

Cole and his buddies don't view careers like generations before them have. They say the economy is so terrible, you have to make your own career. They put together parties and DJ electronic music. The duo meets an older DJ named James, Wes Bentley, who becomes their mentor. When Cole falls for his girlfriend Sophie (Emily Ratajkowski) things get complicated. Jon Bernthal also stars.

He sets out to make his own way and develop his own signature sound. The electronic music world is the setting for what looks to be a pretty entertaining film. In addition to directing the film, Joseph also co-wrote the screenplay with Meaghan Oppenheimer. Randall Poster (Divergent, Insurgent,Spring Breakers) supervised the music, which is key to the film.

The film arrives in theaters on August 25. Take a look:
