The Dark Knight Rises Sets 2D Box Office Record

The Dark Knight Rises had the third largest weekend opening ever with a take of $160.9 million. It set a record for the largest 2D opening ever. Despite the record, the box office for the film was lower than that projected before the midnight theater shooting tragedy in Colorado.

The Dark Knight Rises was followed by Ice Age: Continental Drift, The Amazing Spider-Man, Ted and Brave. You can see the complete box office report for the weekend here.
