Donald Trump Approves of Taran Killan's Impersonation of Him

Saturday Night Live had its season premiere last night with Miley Cyrus as host and the musical guest. The cold open featured Taran Killam playing Donald Trump and Cecily Strong as his wife Melania.
Taran had Trump's mannerisms down, but his voice impersonation needs some more work. Jimmy Fallon's Trump is absolutely brilliant: every one else is playing catch up. Although Darrell Hammond also does a good Trump, he only made a brief appearance in the episode as Bill Clinton.
Trump elucidated his plans for the country when he's president: "It's very simple: I get in there, taxes go down, everybody gets a job, salaries go way up, we build a wall, it's huge. Over in China, they're going to say, 'Now that's a wall!' "
It was surprising to see Melania parodied, considering she hasn't hit the campaign trail yet or done an interview. Melania has an architecture degree and speaks four languages, so Cecily made sure to play her as smart, not dumb. But her accent sounded more South American than Yugoslavian. Still, she looked great. They did a bit where Trump said he doesn't hate immigrants because he married one, but then Melania said Donald brought her to the U.S. without a green card, as those are only for poor people. Melania, of course, was a supermodel living in New York when she met the Donald at a party.
Melania listened to her husband's economic plans saying that to her they just sound like a jumble of words, but then again she didn't graduate from the "Hogwarts School of Business" as her husband did.
Melania noted that her husband only says crazy things to get a polling boost and told him he was down in the polls to get him to say something ridiculous (it worked). She then pointed out that he used to be a Democrat and really doesn't care if you get an abortion or are gay.
The Donald said that he is just like us, only better. As his wife explained, he is like all of us: "he puts his hair on one strand at a time." Presumably these impressions are going to be with us a while, so it will be interesting to see where Cecily takes her Melania impression. As for Taran Killam, he's doing just fine. Trump himself had praise for the impersonation tweeting, "@TaranKillam plays a way better fake @realDonaldTrump than a real @HillaryClinton plays herself @nbcsnl."
