Hillary Clinton Impersonates Donald Trump on SNL as Val the Bartender

Miley Cyrus may have been the host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live, but the biggest star of the night was Hillary Clinton. The former Secretary of State appeared early in the show in a sketch in which she played a bartender named Val who chats with a depressed Hillary Clinton, played by Kate McKinnon.
Kate McKinnon's Hillary impersonation is hilarious and it cannot have been easy spoofing someone to her face on live television. But she did a great job, as did Hillary. The real Hillary took a few knocks on her slowness to take a position against the Keystone pipeline and on gay rights. When a gay bartender thanked fake Hillary for her support for gay rights, she noted that it could have been sooner. "Fair point" said real Hillary. McKinnon is the show's first openly gay cast member.
But the funniest part of the sketch was the opening in which Hillary is depressed after hearing people talk about how much they love Donald Trump. Val says, "Donald Trump. Isn't he the one that's like "Oh, you're all losers?'" It was a spot on impersonation, and quite funny. Fake Hillary replies, "I want to be the one to take him down. I will destroy him and I will mount his hair in the oval office."
The writers poked fun at Hillary's constant reminders that she's a grandmother and at politicians and their doublespeak. Hillary was game and even sang "Lean on Me" with Kate. Darrell Hammond made a brief appearance as Bill Clinton who took one look at the doppelgangers and exclaimed, "They're multiplying!" before making a hasty exit. When Val disappears, Hillary thinks she dreamed the encounter. But then she finds one lone pump on the floor. She holds it aloft and exults, "A hard, tan business shoe -- I was right, she is real!"
It will be interesting to see which of the other candidates will take a chance and appear on the show. It could go really well, as Hillary's appearance did, or it could go horribly wrong.
